I've seen posts regarding using either wax or PJ in combination with cotton balls for my PSK - but has anyone here ever used both at the same time? I mean soaking the cotton ball in PJ then coating the whole thing with wax?

Strangely enough, I tried doing this just yesterday. I normally use just PJ cotton balls, but I decided to try giving them a wax coating to help make them less messy. Unfortunately, I think I used a bit too much wax. I melted down a candle on my stove, and held the cotton balls with pliers, and dipped the entire thing down into the liquid wax. I then took them out to dry. However, now that they are dry, they are SOLID. I can't break into them with just my fingers, I literally need to hit them with a hammer or the back of a heavy knife to get inside. I definitely think I used way too much wav, but if you can control it so that there is only a small layer of wax on the outside, I think it would work very well.

I posted a bunch of information Here
and a followup Here

I would highly recommend adding the magnesium powder to make your firestarters weather resistent. Dip the entire ball quickly in and out the wax so the cotton does not fully saturate.

I heard that Cheetos will burn for several minutes - what if you replaced the cotton with a cheeto and coated it with wax and magnesium chips?

I added magnesium shavings to my PJ cotton balls. I pitched a cotton ball in a water puddle and lit it with a ferro rod. It burned almost completely up before it went out.
