Can you take a knife with you in a commercial airliner? Can you take your PSK with you (metal tin). Can you even put the scalpel-blade in it? What do you think and what should you do??

I haven't heard what they do in the Netherlands -- you might contact some of your local airlines and ask. And if you're flying to some other part of the world other than the U.S., the rules may be different.
Hey, you guys in other parts of the world, Britain, Germany, Singaporeetc, what are they doing/enforcing over there?

the regulations are pretty much the same here. Though, you could surrender the sak in your pocket and the air crew would hold it for safe keeping for you and return it to you after the flight at your destination. And we have no TSA police to harass us. The security here are quite civil. No need to take off the shoes, no need to have unlocked bags, all bags are screened only after being checked in, so no long lines for security check. Less hassle.

I no longer fly that much, these last years. But a few months ago, I took a flight from Paris CDG to Rio.
At Charles De Gaulle airport, .before passing the security check, I asked about my Surefire G2 at the attendant, at the entry of the pre-check zone : he said it was forbidden. So I go to another entry point, asked another guy : he said small flash lights like that were allowed, but not the bigger ones with those huge square batterries (I don't know the reference for those...). I guess its the battery itself which is forbidden inside cabin. And indeed, I had no problem at the security check point. All my EDC lights (3 or 4) went thru alright. As for knife, I didn't take any chance : I put an old Spyderco (retired from EDC for a few years) in my checked in luggage. No problemo. So in Rio, I had at least this short blade on me.
As for internal flights, years ago I used to put my knife and/or Leatherman PST II in a pouch, along with other tools, and the pouch in my cabin hand luggage ; I would go thru the security check, no question asked. Until that day in Nice, well before 9/11, were they refused my coworker to take its electrical screwdriver ( ) in its cabin luggage. We both get back to the counter and checked both our bags in, mine with knife and Leatherman PST II securely stashed inside.

Yes, but if you crash or ditch in the sea, wat are the chances you'll find your baggage and your knife and Psk between the wreckage?

a PSK tin has very little value in sea survival, so why bother to look for one? Having a signal mirror, whistle or even a stobe makes a huge diffrence. The whistle can be found on the PFD. Also having the right clothing helps too, but i doubt many people will wear a survival suit when flighing on an commercial airliner...
