If you feel that it is too heavy, you probably don't want a fixed blade knife. The functionality of a fixed blade is in all around heavy use, for example, prying. It therefore requires some stoutness. I'm wondering what drew you to the idea of needing a fixed blade?

Bee,

Do you have a food scale or a post office handy? My Mora with sheath weighs 3.5 oz.

Take a look at the Becker Necker. This is a very small knife. The handle size may be a problem for you so try one before you buy. That said, I carry one EDC and hardly notice it. Very light, but with a nice thick "pry bar" blade which is typical of Beckers. Holds an edge very well. I carry it on the inside of my belt "behind" my palmtop belt case. The sheath just barely sticks out past the bottom of the palm case. About 3/4 of the handle is visible so it is not concealed.

I filled the usless (to me anyway) bottle opener and wire cutter hole with a high grade of "metal expoxy" and then did a stryker wrap on the handle. Added a finger lanyard and it became a very useful EDC knife. So far, none of the PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER. have been the least bit nervous when I take it out in home depot or wal-mart to cut string or open a box etc.

Second warning: the handle is very small and may be a problem for you. It works for me though.

Oh my...

You know what? I just realized the gentlemen that I bought this knife from sent the regular SOG Seal 2000 knife instead of the Seal Pup, which weighs a whopping 12.8 oz (and not 5 oz), and that's not counting the kydex sheath.

No wonder why I was finding it heavy! <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I have mixed feelings; should I be happy because I was sent a higher value knife? Or sad because I won't use it? Grrr...

Doh!

The Seal Knife 2000 is huge. Perhaps you can put a feeler out for a trade or something.
