Ken K is on the money. I've got three knives in S30V (large & small Ritter Grip models and a Bradley A2) and sharpen them at 30 degrees on the Sharpmaker. Very nice edge and no edge-holding problems.
I have the diamond stones and the extra fine stones for my Sharpmaker. The postings here are right on ... unless you have some very dull knives you want to work on, you can get by w/o the diamond stones.
The extra fines, which aren't very expensive, are very nice if you want go to go for a "bragging" edge.
