I have some questions: Will there be one or two RSK.fiexed blades. One from benchmade an one from Becker? Can You give me some information or pictures, length, steel, thickness of spine?

Scroll down about 2/3's of the way to find a picture and description of the Doug Ritter RSK MkIII fixed blade knife. Clearly it is a fixed blade Griptilian with a custom 4.5" S30V blade that closely matches the profile of Doug's folders. Looks great!! I am hoping that Doug has resolved the handle ridge concern he voices in his 2006 SHOT show knife report:

"The handle itself has ridges similar to those found on the folding Griptilian. I'd be concerned that these may be blister raisers in hard use without gloves, but we'll have to test it to see how it does. It certainly won't slip, there's plenty of grip there. Those ridges are essential to the folder which doesn't have a deep finger guard, but are not really necessary on a fixed blade which tend to get much harder use."

There was earlier talk of Doug also collaborating with Becker Knife and Tool to create the fixed blade knife shown in the photo above. Those are two different knives. I don't think we've heard the status of that knife as of late.

The scales on the standard FixedGrip in this picture look different. Do you know if they are?


edit. The 151 Fixed Grip has "Moulded handle scales with ?grippy? soft rubber inserts ". The RSK MkIII has G10.

I've given you all I know. I'll know a lot more once I purchase that knife ... when it comes available. I've already warned my wife that the purchase is coming sometime this summer.

The Benchmade-RSK looks interesting. I just hope, this blade is a little thicker than on the Fixedgriptilian (3 mm).

I am looking for an alternative for the Fallkniven F1 because the grip is a little small for me and this could be a good one!

Can Doug give me/us some information on this knive, please!

Sorry, I wish I could say more, but about all I can say is we are moving ahead, albeit slooooooooooowly. <sigh> When it is available to ship, ETS members will be the first to know. I'm pretty sure it will be worth the wait.

I've been reading in the forums that Camillus is not doing so well, that the workers have been on strike since since May 17, 2006. Also, there are rumors of bankruptcy circulating.
There are threads on both Bladeforums and Knifeforums encouraging those who care to buy a Camillus knife now to try and help out the company and hopefully prevent the loss of another great American knife manufacturer.
I went ahead and got myself a BK-7, it arrived a few days ago. Boy am I impressed! It's my first real large fixed blade. I must say, it's too large. But I'm still happy to have one. Now I'm itching to get either a BK-10 or BK-2 just to have something in a more practical size. But what I really want is the Ritter-ized version of the BK-xx.
I hope Camillus doesn't go under. But I have to wonder if this isn't going to further delay the release of the Ritter fixed blade.

I was thinking the same thing. I might spring for a Becker Necker. Although I really don't need one--I just want one. I imagine that the strike is a pretty touchy subject though. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for your post - I think you just saved me some money ... at least until Doug brings out another ETS product. I have a BK10 (much better than the BK2, whose blade is waaay too thick), and have been waiting patiently for word on the Ritter fixed blades. With the news of the Camillus strike I've been wondering if I should buy a BK7.

BUT now I may just hold off and enjoy the BK10 instead ... until the next ETS product comes out.

Yes, unfortunately the situation at Camillus has impacted production of the RSK Mk2 Ritter/Becker fixed blade. Could not have come at a worse time. That's about all I can say on the matter.

Well, I'll wait for the RSK fixed blade for sure now. I was just fixing to break down and buy something else. Coincidently, that design similar to the Campanion with the thumb rest and longer blade is just the exact thing I have been looking for (dreaming of!). Those added features shown is just what I was wishing the Campanion had. I'll go with whichever Doug comes out with because I am so satisfied with my RSK MKI folder.

I just ordered a BSA lockback folding hunter by Camillus for my son, I had no idea of the state the company is in. His mom has an SAK for him for boyscouts which is asking for him to get cut, I told her not to let him use it.. Its just my opinion, but I hate non-locking folders.
