Depends on the were and the when. I mean, the hippies around here (and I use that term literally) mostly wear old field jackets, but we are pretty rural. I think it an overreaction, myself, but I also know that in some urban areas, the cops for a while were over reacting.

Me, I don't care. The biggest reason to not wear it, is so that no one thinks you aren't showing up for duty when your Reserve/Gaurd unit is activated, but if your gear is all older gear and obviously civilianized, no biggy. Add patches, a bright colored coat under the flap, hang a few stuffed greatful dead bears or the heads off a few Barbie dolls on it. No one will think you are in the military.

Although the Barbie heads might have them worried for other reasons.
