Yeah, that's slick, but not worth the money IMHO. A couple of cheaper options:

1) Rite in the Rain has an awesome sampler deal for $12 that includes an all-weather pen (Fisher Space type), a couple waterproof notepads and some misc. copy paper. This includes S&H. I'm not sure how they do it, but I've been very impressed with the pen and the paper.

2) There are Fisher Space Pen refills (writes in the rain, underwater, through grease, etc.) for many non-Fisher pens. I got one for a Waterman I have, and you can get them for Cross and other pens as well.

I really had to twist my own arm to shell out the $16 for the Fisher Bullet!

Although it would be cool to have a titanium pen...

Some of the gadgets exist merely for their own sake, I grant you that, but other than that, what's wrong with the company? If you have a real beef with them, I would like to know.

Ha! You won't regret it. Maybe the best $12 I've spent in awhile. I opted for the Tactical set, how about you? I'd be curious to know how many times one could take advantage of the Intro/Sampler offer. It'd be nice to have a few of those around. I will say, though, that I've only used a few pages of the waterproof notebook paper to put emergency info, PINs, etc. in my BOBs. Seems like I ought to write something pretty profound on paper that durable.

I've had my Fisher Bullet EDC in my pocket for years. For the cost for either of the pens mentioned, I just don't see the value. The Fisher pen can write on about anything and mine has gone through the wash, been stepped on, had tools dropped on it, run over, and I once dropped it briefly in a fire before I had a chance to knock it out with a branch. My pen is a tank.

If you want a keyring, the Bullet could be drilled for that. The cartridge itself is waterproof, so you would just need to be concerned with the interior and I don't think there's any harm as long as you dry it out if it gets wet via the newly drilled split-ring hole.

Other than fine scratching from constant contact with other metal items in my pocket, It's still in like-new condition after half a decade of abuse. You can have it when they pry my cold dead hands from it. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

You'll love the Fenix. Very bright, and a common battery type. I carry mine "upside down" in its holster, which allows me to use it without removing it (another tip from CPF).

I hope so. I read nothing but positive reviews of the Fenix L1P.

From my kids' desks, I get half-pencils, used crayons and few other nice thingies. If you include a short pencil and a shorter crayon in your EDC, youd be pretty covered for most writing emergencies.

My point is : keep it simple.

You can find any kind of writing device in your kids school leftover, or stationary shelves. There is everything from fluroescent ( highlighting ) markers to eraseable pens.

Use them creatively.
