Maybe I'm just dumb, but I can't get mine to work!

The little piece in the center just slides in and out and anytime the keyrings move to the center, they fall out. No instructions with it, and nothing on Bison's website.

This is one of those, "well, maybe there are such things as stupid questions", questions, but I'm asking anyway. I don't even know how I got the center piece out because I was distracted by children, then the next thing I know, I've got keyrings falling all over the floor.

Help, please!

It sounds like the spring that keeps the "gate" closed is either broken, incorrectly placed, or missing in yours, but that's just a guess based on your description.

The silver slide button you pull back to open the gate should spring back automatically closing the space where the ball end of the key rings are inserted, keeping them from falling out.

I'm pulling this from memory, so I apologize if I'm way off base here.

I guess another possibility is that the two disc halves could be bent at the pin allowing more space where the balls slide than originally intended, but that's speculation.

Is this the model you have?

you definitely have something wrong with the spring. Looking at mine (if it is the same as posted above), I bet that if you used a pair of pliers and cranked that knurled knob (counter clockwise would be my guess), it will unscrew from the gate, allowing the gate to come out. See if there is a little spring back there that got kinked. Probably not repairable though, unless you have access to lots of little springs to test out. Call Bison and see if they will exchange it for you.

I emailed Bison, apologized, as me what color I wanted and where I wanted it sent to. It's been several days, and I don't have the replacement yet, but it's nice that they were so forthcoming in offering a replacement. Yesterday I got the replacement key caddie...no questions asked, no request to send back the defective one...didn't even ask for any kind of proof of purchase (I got it from REI, and Bison replaced it).

Those that carry the key caddie, how exactly do you carry it? I tried attaching it to my key ring that hangs on my Maxpedition Keyper, but it hangs too low and jangles with the car remotes. I don't know if I trust the clip on the key caddie either. How do others carry it?

I attached the caddy to a carabiner/compass combo (got it from campmor, IIRC). That way I can clip the carabiner to a belt loop and let the caddy rest in my pocket. Keeps everything secure yet accessible. I wonder about the Bison clip as well, looks a bit flimsy, but it doesn't have to support much.
