I am sure you guys seen the attacks on denmark and French embassies overseas. If you have to work overseas for contract job, how do you get out of the country when the embassies are burned down, airports entrance are surrounded by islamic extremists?

-Hide and blend in the best you can.
-Try to get to another embassy that's friendly, IE US, Canada, or most Western Europe if your Danish and ask for sanctuary.
-Hire a taxi/bus/train/whatever to get you to a border/another airport

That's a piece I've never understood- if you ask for sanctuary, what do you get?
A hot meal, a shower, a phone call and a bunk for the night? They help get you out of the country and into thiers? (I assume I'd be on my own after that.)

In Cypress in the 60s, the diplomats apparently helped get each other out, via their local connections.
Personally, I wouldn't go to places that house the extremists. A million-dollar paycheck won't bring you back to life.
I would have a GOOD map of the whole country, topo would not be excessive. Got friends there? They might know who could be trusted, and which way to jump. Could you keep some clothes with you like the locals wear? Makeup to darken your exposed skin?
And I wouldn't be 10 steps from my BOB, which would be a container like the locals use, not some brand-new REI backback.

Sorry, just assuming! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
If conditions were as he indicated: "how do you get out of the country when the embassies are burned down, airports entrance are surrounded by islamic extremists?", I would assume that you are in their country. I don't believe that you usually see large numbers of terrorists/extremists in other countries, from what I've heard. If they've burn the embassy AND are surrounding the airport, you've got quite a crowd, and that doesn't seem to be how they are operating at this time outside their own countries. They would have to be really organized to even pull something like that off in Amman.
I'm sure you can find extremists anywhere, even in my little one-signal-light town.
(AND WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT ***ME*** FOR???) <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Generally these situations don't arise without warning. When they're getting started the govts often advice their nationals to get the hell out of dodge. Those who choose not to get out are left to their own devices. In some of these mideast contractor gigs, the companies have their own security which amounts to mercenaries. That has good points and bad but I guess it gets the job done.

But some Places have more of them than others! And all such Dangers thruout our World, -are not of the same kind. Only some get offended by such Cartoons.
And even if all types were the same everywhere, -the original Question still Stands, -How do you get yourself Out of such a situation? [color:"black"] ironraven
