I could not fit the whole title in. It should be
Using Ham Radio as a personal emergency communications system.

I intended to begin a series of posts here about the how's and why's of ham radio, but I think it would be better to use one of my blogs. I will have more control over the format and we won't clutter up ETS with a lot of pictures and diagrams etc.

So if you are interested in Ham Radio, especially as it realates to a personal emergency communication system, link over to my blog and join the conversation. It is located at

http://n1ahh.blogspot.com

or just click...
Here

A special invitation to other hams. Come on along and add your experience to the project.

very cool. I love the Red Cross ECRV's. I want one for myself when I grow up.

Although we use a Texas Address, we still call downeast Maine home. Texas is the location of our mail service and we can have our drivers license, insurance and all that stuff in Texas without having a real street address. The address you see listed in QRZ is a file folder in our Re-mailers office.

If all goes as planned, we will be spending the summer in a very remote part of downeast Maine. We have access to a wilderness spot in the Maine woods. Follow us using the "present position" link on the blog. but until april or so we will be in Tampa Fl.

And, there is an ECRV based in Houston. Stop by the RC chapter and volunteer. Train to become an operator. We need all the help we can get.

I plan on taking some classes at the local RC soon anyways. I'll talk to them about being an operator too.

Thanks!
