Works for us in the Malaysian, Irian Jaya & Colombia jungles - while at your campsite, observe the pattern<br>of the smoke from your campfire for a good 5 to 10 minutes. If the smoke consistently moves up towards the same direction...there will be good weather for, possibly, the next 12 hours. If the smoke goes either direction or seemed to hug the ground....expect rain in the next 2 hours or so.<br>If you observe there are dark clouds and a potential wet encounter, feel the wind. If the wind blows first for a few minutes and THEN the rain comes in...the rain could possibly be no more than 30 minutes. But if its the other way around, it rains and THEN the wind comes in...expect rain to continue for the next 2 to 5 hours.<br>

Its that way up in the temperate rainforests also. Do the animals get quiet?
