Any of Texas members want to meet up at the gun show in Conroe on Feb 25-26? It'd be nice to attach some real people to the names we see here. Let me know if you have any interest and we'll work out the details.

I figured the gun show would be some good, neutral ground that might interest a number of the people here. Of the three usual Houston-area gun shows I've found the best bang for your buck <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> is the Conroe show.

The real question now becomes: Where is the best chicken fried steak in Conroe? My personal creedo includes this solemn maxim: When road tripping, sample the chicken fried steaks. Anything that far outside the Beltway counts as a road trip. <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I'm not sure about the best chicken fried steak in Conroe, but there's a great place in The Woodlands right on I-45 southbound called "Sam's". You exit at Rayford-Sawdust, turn left under I-45, then right into the big H.E.B. parking lot. Head through the parking lot and park near the exit back onto the I-45 southbound feeder. Park the car, loosen your belt, and walk over to Sam's. It used to be a 24-hour truck stop. Goooood eatin there!

I like getting to the gun show early on Saturday morning (9:30am or so), mainly because I'll have my little girl along. Maybe the wife too if I can get her out of bed. However, I am open to suggestions. As for meeting up, I'm easy to spot. I'm 6'5", 200 lbs, a tad younger than 40, brown hair with several large, white spots (scar tissue, earned the name "Blast"), and at least one cute Asian girl in my arms <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The entrance to the convention center is fairly large and we can pick a corner to meet when the time gets closer.

The Houston area ETS meet-up will be taking place on Feb. 25th at the Lone Star Convention Center gun show in Conroe, Texas.

We'll be meeting from 9:30am to 10am in the main lobby outside the show. Look for the 6'5" white guy with one or two short, raven-haired beauties with him (wife and 2-yr-old daughter <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />).

Sorry you missed it! It was a good time though the show was PACKED! I'd never seen it that crowed and not just guys. It was swarming with kids of all ages as whole families showed up. Normally my kid is the only young child there. I'd read somewhere that firearm sales have skyrocketed since Hurricane Katrina. I guess this was proof.

Gizmojumpjet and I are trying to set up a time to go shooting together out at the range on Westheimer. Drop me a line if you are interested in joining us.
