A few weeks ago, we had a fellow come out of the woodwork, and due to a misunderstanding over internet protocol, he left feeling not-too-welcome. In his initial post, he asked us to check out his survival oriented web site, and some of us (me included) thought he was a bit forward, and some members let him know, in no uncertain terms. OK, unfamiliar newbie that didn't understand our ettiquette driven off, no big deal, that would have been the end of the story... BUT... curiosity got the best of me, and I followed him back. After hanging out over there for about a week, I came to find out, that while he might be a bit right wing for some of the folks here, he's not a bad guy. As far as the far right thing goes, I'm SURE that from time to time... I'm a bit far right for some of you... but we all manage to get along just fine (well, most of the time... thanks Chris for being such a good referee). Now that the preaching part is over, on to the golden opportunity... this fellow has a storefront that, due to health reasons, he's liquidating. There's a massive list of surplus gear posted over there that he's willing to send out for the cost of shipping... yea, that's right, cost of shipping only. When I suggested that he Ebay the stuff, his answer was that he wanted to help out folks who were trying to put together a kit, but were having a tough time of it money-wise. Not exactly what I'd call a bad guy. For anybody that wants to check out the site and the offer, it's thesurvivalist.tripod.com/thesurvivalistnetwork Be forwarned, there are a lot of Christian religious overtones there, but there are some pretty sharp minds there, and quite a few genuinely nice folks. For those of you familiar with me, you know that if it was a church meeting, I wouldn't be making this post. For those of you that have a few minutes, check 'em out, and tell 'em wildcard sent ya.

Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place, but I couldn't find anything for sale over there. Do you have a more detailed link?

At the opening page: top of the page; ENTER THE NETWORK bottom of the page; ENTER
go to; FORUMS go to; for sale
the gramar might not be the queen's English, but with most of the stuff, the pic.s speak for themselves.

Can you post a link to the web page?
Also, if you could, I'd be curious to read the original thread you are talking about.

Just go to the web site, highlight the address at the top of your browser ( http://www.something.com, or similar) and press the C key while holding down the Ctrl key, go back to the ETS forum, create a post and then paste it into the ETS forum post by pressing the V key while holding down the Ctrl key. The only message I get from Tripod is:
"Sorry, but the page or the file that you're looking for is not here."
I've tried variations on the link and did a search at tripod with no results. Has the site been pulled?

Wow, that's a serious downer. I hope he'll be OK.
Thanks for letting us know about the giveaway, but I'd seriously feel like a vulture for going over there to get some free kit. On the other hand, if he wants to sell the stuff because it would help out with his situation I'd certainly be happy to take a look.
In any case, please forward him my best wishes and hopes for a quick recovery.

Troy,
I was one who gave him not so warm welcome. Yup over last few months I found out I have a gift to [censored] people off but that's just me. We have a good place here and amount of information that flows thru posts is just unbelievable. Does that mean that we are done? Absolutely no. I will never stop learning. I’m no expert, I just know how to do some things better than the other things. Just like I will speak out about medical stuff since this would be my area of expertise I will still listen to others. But please do establish where you are coming from. You can be a 10 yo volunteering on the youth squad or a 50 yo coffee salesman, I don’t care but let me know who you are. So anyone who is willing to contribute is more that welcomed. Now we have been pretty civilized folks here and besides the same old "gun issues" we been having for years we behave pretty well. Having said that: we are polite and proper with each other, following internet etiquette to the max. New guys say hi, introduce themselves, contribute and everything is fine and dandy. When someone bursts in, leaves his website address and when asked to introduce himself or back up his knowledge he gives attitude, please understand that it may be a bit of a turn off. Now I'm not a guy who is going to talk junk without getting my facts straight. So indeed before even posting anything I did follow his link and checked his website and forum. On his website his bio was missing and his forum had a section where members were introducing themselves. So why now double standards? Information we share here are potentially life saving. I will tell you how it is without sugar coating it. Same goes for other members on ETS who been out there... I think that between all of us we have most of the occupations covered (well we are missing a Victoria Secret model) and we have a lot of experience. Mr. Zippoflint (or whatever his name was) coped an attitude, acted a bit paranoid and when few guys tried to give him some sense of direction he even further became a donkey.
Now personally I don’t care if his forum is rightwing, leftwing or chicken wing. I believe in honor and my handshake is as strong as any legal document. So personally it’s a big turn off for me when I meet people who are not straight forward. All he had to do is this: “Hi my name is John, I’ve been running a small gun stroe down south, I’ve been doing some rescue stuff and I have a website. Please check it out and let me know what you think.” After that it is smooth sailing… But telling me that he has no time for introduction and he gives me information that will save my life and I can take it or leave it… Who he thinks he is? God?
Matt
