I have been thinking that for my car, a hunker down kit will be more appropraite. If I am stranded on the highway miles from home, I will be safer in my car and wait for traffic to clear up than to bug out in an unknown neighborhood (most of my travelling is done in urban areas).

So for hunkering down, i.e. bugging IN...I suppose this will be a low-exertion deal, and it is conceivable that I would expect to be stuck in my car overnight because of stopped traffic, collapsed freeways....so no need to carry more than a gallon for a situation like that?
