i got a platypus aswell, but the drink tube does NOT fit on cola bottle's the srew thingys are to large on the platypus.<br>so how does that come ? because all platypus srewcaps are the same ( including the drinkingtube cap )

I have been thinking that for my car, a hunker down kit will be more appropraite. If I am stranded on the highway miles from home, I will be safer in my car and wait for traffic to clear up than to bug out in an unknown neighborhood (most of my travelling is done in urban areas).<br><br>So for hunkering down, i.e. bugging IN...I suppose this will be a low-exertion deal, and it is conceivable that I would expect to be stuck in my car overnight because of stopped traffic, collapsed freeways....so no need to carry more than a gallon for a situation like that?

I don't know. By myself (in the Netherlands) all the platypus <br>screwdops fits on 1,5 liters Coca Cola bottle and on lots of oder PET (Cola type bottle's) bottle's.

The only time I would suggest "bugging-in" in a vehicle is if you are off the side of the road, in the shade, and the problem is mechanical failure of your vehicle and you have reasonable expectation the AAA will respond to your call from the cell-phone before the local hoodlums come to strip your car of any remaining functional parts.<br><br>bugging in in a vehicle is problematic in many ways. <br><br>If you are stranded on a highway you are in the middle of a large crowd of very annoyed people whom you don't know, your resources are immediately visible through the windows and if they are sizable they might be coveted, your ability to protect is only as strong as your windows, in warm weather this will be quite warm. In an urban environment there are many public places that offer better protection if any stability remains in society where the LEO's will be patroling better than a jammed freeway. If Societal stability is compromized then I would suggest that some place less visible - if even under the last overpass over a river might provide both better shelter from the elements and much better isolation from the less attractive elements in human nature.

Skunk,<br><br>Provided it is only overnight, a gallon should be fine. I keep two gallons in the car at all times, I take more if circumstances appear to call for more. If you're not lugging the stuff around on your back, there's no such thing as too much.<br><br>Take care,<br><br>Andy
