PSP = Pocket Survival Pack NOAA = can't remember the exact meaning, but it's the US's national weather service
PAL? It might be in reference to the current generation of military web gear, which is PALS/MOLLE. MOLLE is the Marine Corp version, but all the services were working on a new system to replace ALICE and CFP-90-era stuff. You might also see it called AIRSAVE, which is the USAF version. All the same thing, people just call it MOLLE becuase the Marines got it in the field first, and were really pushing it.

As a suggestion, it might be easiest to follow this thread if you edit your original post as the master list.
Here are some suggested additions from acronyms I have seen on the forum:
ALICE- All-Purpose Lightweight Carrying Equipment LED- Light Emitting Diode N.O.- New Orleans EMP- Electro-Magnetic Pulse POV- Privately Owned Vehicle
Radio geek terms that may be seen in the forums: HF- High Frequency SW- Short-wave VHF- Very High Frequency UHF- Ultra High Frequency AM- Amplitude Modulation FM- Frequency Modulation FRS- Family Radio Service GMRS- General Mobile Radio Service MURS- Multi-Use Radio Service CB- Citizens Band Ham- Amateur radio operator (not really an acronym) CW- Continuous Wave (synonymous with radio Morse Code) EAS- Emergency Alert System SAME- Specific Area Message Encoding (NOAA EAS feature)

How about we prevail upon Chris to make a new post, as a sticky, and edit it as new acronyms are built up so we have a one-stop resource? Either that or make a specific page for this.

Thank you!!!! I'm new to this forum and was bewildered by all the acronyms.
As a newbie, I'm also confused by the clipped equipment descriptions..as in, I always carry a G3 MT blah blah blah - is it a knife? a device? a can of corn?
Thanks to everyone who shares products with working URLs - I'm browsing a lot of cool stuff and vendor websites I didn't know existed.

Ok with me. How does one Prevail upon Chris?
I have been updating a word document with all new items provided by post. Will be happy to send a copy to any who ask. (could also make it a PDF). (Portable Document Format as in .PDF files in Adobe Acrobat) Thanks to those that have contributed to the list and to everyone for a forum that has been key to setting up my EDC.
