I thought this was kinda cool. Not a bad price depending on quality.

I tend to keep away from novelty knives -- and for $15, you can get a pretty decent "real" knife.

teacher- I also tend to stay away from "novelty" knives myself. I'm a Kershaw fan myself(folder)or Camillus(fixed). In fact my daughters bought me a cheapo folder for christmas that will forever be hidden away in a desk drawer.

When I noticed this knife on Knifeforums I was curious,as crap knves are not usually discussed there. A little research and I found that Byrd Knives are a line of Syderco.

From the Syderco website:
"The Spyderco Byrd Knife Series is a line of knives produced and imported by Spyderco. The Spyderco Knife Byrd Knife designs are engineered in a partnership of Spyderco's Research and Development and several custom knifemakers. Engineering, ergonomics, quality control, safety testing and close tolerance manufacturing are controlled and overseen by Spyderco. Production takes place in China by carefully selected knifemakers working in conjunction with Spyderco to ensure a reliable, quality Spyderco knife at a competitive price."

Now, I wonder if, ' Production takes place in China by carefully selected knifemakers', simply means lowest price. <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Novelty knife or not, it certainly looks cool.
