I used to golf with a guy who every year got a novelty putter from his wife. She knew he loved golf, but knew nothing about golf herself.

Just so I don't look sexist, men are targeted the same way. "Look honey - it's a basket of lotions or something - the salesgirl said you'd love them. This one smells like apricot or something."

Having seen some of the stuff that hits the Japanese Gadget Market, I bet these things are probably selling like hotcakes over there.

Where here in the states people tend to go for the James Bond hidden features or SAK all in ones, there is a segment of the market over there seems to go toward tongue-in-cheek kitsch, and the more outlandish the item the better. <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
