Hi all,
Some weeks ago I posted a message here asking for tips for my trip to a semi-desertic area. It turned out the temperatures where a lot milder than the averages so the heat wasn't a problem. I will post a very quick report about what I used, what I needed in case someone finds it useful.
Water is very important, a good flask that won't spill is important and you have to make sure you have a way to carry the flask in a confortable way so you can drink whenever you want. My flask was cheap so it leaked (a little) and didn't fit very well in the pocket of my pack so sometimes it fell. Since I prefer gatorade to water the leaks and falls were quite upsetting. My wife used a camelback pack and she had no problems drinking so I might opt for an hydrationr pack instead of a flask the next time.
Sunglasses were crucial I used a pair of Wiley-X with a tactical strap and they were perfect, the lenses got sand particles and dust from time to time so I also carried a sima lens pen to clean them regularly.
Another interesting experience was the hat, I had two problems with mine: one was that with the sweat it started to be unconfortable, I'm not sure how to solve this. The second problem was that it had no strap and under heavy wind I had to just took the hat off and store it or I would lose it. So a more breatheable hat with some strap to hold it will be my choice next time.
Of course there is a lot more but in my experience in this trip the hat, sunglasses and water were the most important items.
