Since I'm generally a cheapskate, my work wardrobe of button-up shirts and slacks usually consists of whatever I get a good deal on at Wal-Mart and Roses...

Thing is, after wearing them a lot, they tend to fray, wear, and even tear in some places I could do without a tear! <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I do on occasion wear black or khaki jeans, or cargo pants. Just not too often, as it's technically against 'the code...'

So, I know I'm not the only one that has to get all 'fancypants' for work or other reasons...anyone reccomend a brand or particular style of a really well made and durable dress pant?

Find some good chino uniform slacks surplus or from a military supplier.

I swear by the 5.11 tactical line of clothing, they have dress as well as good looking BDU's. Thay also have 100% cotton (but cotton kills when wet) so they also have 100% nylon and poly/cotton options.

I believe they also have a wool/poly blend now as well.

Didn't know about the wool, that is even better.

Have you tried Dickies? I've owned several pairs over the years that have worn like iron. Plus if for some reason they get ruined your not going to be out more than $25.

This is a cargo style, but I recently got a pair of Rigg work wear pants made by Wrangler from kingsizedirect.com and I really like them. They are made from Cordura if I remember correctly and look to be well made. There's even a reinforced pocket edge on the right side to protect the pocket from a clip.

Anyhow, I wore them to substitute teach the other day, and I think I'd feel comfortable wearing them in most casual/dressy situations, cargo pockets and all.

They're on sale now for $32.99...I paid $54!
Especially at that price, I'll be getting more.
