Last night in EMS, I saw a Jetboil, which looked like an interesting concept. I did a search here, and found this thread, http://www.equipped.org/ubbthreads/showf...=true#Post31767 which is a little over a year old. I was wondering if anyone had new comments on it.

Have one, LOVE IT!!!! It boils water super fast, 8oz in under 1:45 (70 deg outside tempature). Although it is a little bigger than my previous setup, it is lighter and completely self contained. It seems to utilize less fuel than my MSR pocketrocket.

Drawback, cannot use a regular pot without an adapter. This isn't a big deal for me.

Got one -- love it. Its self contained, fast and easy to use.

Drawbacks --more expensive than other stoves and uses canister fuel.

Nothing faster foor cooking food.

A friend of a friend who has one says this, however:

"He said he would never take that on a winter camping trip. He would only take it on a spring/summer trip. For the winter he would bring a more substantial stove to meet his needs."

I didn't talk to him personally, so I don't know the reasoning behind that comment. Is this really only a three season stove?

Well...any canister based stove can be a little difficult in winter, but the jet boil itself is pretty efficient and insulated.
