In Altoid type PSK's, I pack 100% cotton drier lint to stop noise.
Lint is an excellent fire tinder, wound dressing, blood stopper, bait thickener for a trap, hook, or snare, and a fine water filter, when placed in a funnel of aluminum foil from your kit.
