We did it! Due to the phenomenal response to the original Doug Ritter Special Edition Photon Freedom Micro with the painted bodies we've take the next HUGE step (and HUGE investment) and had the bodies MOLDED IN YELLOW GLASS-FILLED POLYURETHANE! This MkII version has the same twice as bright bulb and an improved protective tube (OK, the standard covert nose, if you have to know) to prevent sidescatter. The new yellow bodies are super looking. We also replaced the black clip with a chrome one as the black coated one didn't wearing as well as I'd like in the pocket.

After a lot of testing with friends and others we decided that the standard covert nose worked just fine, not many could tell the difference, and by using it instead of the special cut-off nose we'd be able to keep the cost the same even with the cost of the yellow bodies.

While I didn't mind the painted bodies of the first version, it worked just fine, the fact is that the MkII version are much better looking. The yellow body is a bit translucent and the nose glows slightly when the light is on. Very cool looking.

We didn't expect these until after the holidays, but the first box has arrived at www.Aeromedix.com just in time, in case you're looking for that perfect last minute stocking stuffer.

Best wishes for the holiday season.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I bought (as in paid real money) 20 the week before this project finally came together since we were getting low on stock and I didn't think there would be any more. Oh well...

Well I just called aeromedix and they told me that they will be not selling new photons for at least two weeks... Hmmm. You sure about the case they got?

They might be holding until they have enough stock.

Or is that a no-no with the trademark that is Doug?

It figures the new and improved ones would come out after I just bought 6 of the MK I's for Christmas gifts.

A few years back, when I ordered 50 Photon 3 from LRI, I was surprised to receive microlights WITHOUT the SOS strobe function, which was advertised. This new feature was available only a few weeks AFTER my order ...

Honest, they've got 'em!

Apparently there was some sort of internal communication failure with whomever you spoke with. If it was late, may have been the "answering service" which takes calls/orders after hours. Taken care of now. You should be contacted by Aeromedix.

My Better Half was very good to me. One of my prezzies was an original Doug Ritter Special Edition Photon Freedom Micro. It is now attached to my Spyderco Jester.

I'm going to ask for a Mark II for my birthday, which is coming up in February. I'm reluctantly turning 45. As if I had a choice.

As my younger brother says, becoming a year older is far better than the alternative. Not getting older means you're dead -- or maybe a vampire. Not good news either way.

Hey Doug,

do you have an alternate source for new photons? I don't want to use aeromedix since they screwed up on the order I made for my volunteer ambulance corp. Now I'm in for $200 and it kinda hurts... Plus I've been lied to on the phone and got really "i don't care attitude" from the rep. Plus today is New Years eve, one of the busiest day in the ems and our fly car is using old o2 tanks thanks to aeromedix.

I got a follow up today on the missing shipment. I got a promise to get my money back which I did. No hard feelings just an outfit never to be used again.

Now where can I find an alternate source of Doug's new photons?

Matt:

Not to get into some of the specifics of your posts, the basic fact is that you ordered a oxygen tank and asked that the tank come filled with oxygen. That makes it a hazardous shipment.

Unfortunately, our only shipping option for filled oxygen tanks is the United States Post Office ground service and is the service by which your tank was shipped. We have no control over the delays in the Post Office which occurred with your shipment. We did our part--the tank went out the same day as ordered. We would love to use another shipper but have no choice due to the regulatons.

We are sorry for the delay and have refunded your money. I am not aware of anything else we can do to make you happy but I am certainly willing to try.
