I've been lurking for the past several weeks - gettting the gist of the neighborhood before deciding I liked the atmosphere. At the insistence of Ors I am taking off my Ghillie suit and pulling up a camp stool.

I was really impressed when I realized how many people were involved with Scouting. For our Webelos dens, we are going to build on KenK's information and create PSK's using the Oriental Trading supplies.

I've been carrying a FAK for years now as good good example for the Cub Scouts. Now I've started working on PSKs and BOBs for the wife and kids (Webelos I and Tenderfoot).

Welcome aboard. This is a fantastic community.

Now make sure those boys CARRY their gear. It won't do them any good back in their tents. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

For FAK's for my Cub Scout boys I bought empty first aid kit cases from Campmor.com and then filled them with:
4 - 3/4" 3M Active Bandage Strips
4 - 1" 3M Active Bandage Strips
3 - 3"x3" Gauze Pads
1 - Roll Adhesive Tape
1 - Small Soap in ziploc bag - donated by local hotel
2 - Latex Gloves in ziploc bag
2 - Antibiotic Ointment
2 - Insect Sting Wipe
1 - Tweezers

Later we got each boy a CPR mask too.

All of the gear except 3M bandages were purchased on-line. I can't seem to locate the specific source right now though.

I was working on First aid with my Webelos den in the fall. At Walmart I found small J&J first aid kits for 94 cents. The white plastic box was just about the right size for a pocket kit. It contained a few bandages and wipes and had plenty of room left to add things like you have listed. It makes a great starting point for building a pocket size personal kit for cub scouts.

I do not have one in front of me right now, but I would guess the white plastic box is about 1 inch or so thick and about 3-4 inches wide.

I just saw the same boxes at the dollar store , but they were red and had Spiderman bandages in them.

Not just for the boys. I'm an Eagle Scout myself. Now I'm involved in Girl Scouts since I've got 4 daughters. My oldest is in Brownies and I've had her helping me pack our car preparedness bag. I found we touched on a lot of topics like knife and fire safety, drinking water, not to mention what to do in an emergency.
