when it is about to get controversial (maybe). What's up with that my main man? Is it 1984 again? Big brother watching us and trying to set things right? I do understand that after all ETS is a PG13 place but hey we just popped a review of a semi auto rifle on the front page yet we can’t talk about anything else. I don't know about that my friends. Well guess what, semi auto can be used as survivalist rifle. And that 10 rd mag capacity is enough to pop few heads off if you practice enough. Columbine (sp) anyone? We can behave, we are adults. What's next? Someone who brings up wine will be banned because drinking is illegal under 21 and we have 13 yo looking at the page? There is a time and place for everything but sometimes too much censorship is a bad thing. You can be ignorant all your life if you want to but when rude awaking comes who are you going to blame? There was an amazing commercial few years back that had a catching phrase: "just because you survived drugs it doesn't mean your kids will". It was taken off because it was too harsh and too close to the truth. Same here; we all know that when stuff really hits the fan survival is going to really be about survival and not just about BOBs, PSKs, EDC and FAKs.. It's just nobody wants to speak about that. City folks and country folks all think alike. Latter just know better how unfriendly outside world can be. Let’s just be realistic… we all talk about weapons, knives, kits, scenarios and those are amazing discussions but we fail to include basic human factor and how much of the problem it may cause when faced with real survival situation. Many forums impose rules due to monetary constrains. Money comes flowing as long as certain content is avoided. Is this the case? I’ve been a member for a while and donated in the past. I have no interest in certain discussions and I’m bored by some especially if topics repeat themselves such as what is a perfect EDC knife. Topics here are shot down faster than a 15 yo asking for a drink in the bar. Maybe it’s time to see how things develop before pulling a plug? Yes we got our share of morons who spoke about their private no condom use achievements (if you missed it don’t worry about it) and I bow my head for catching the thread and removing it but… Like I said we are adults and we can handle things. Chill out; I know I do take things easy since even as a paramedic I lack the God complex. Just because you know your skills and equipment it doesn’t mean you know the human factor. And this is where this forum comes short.

I think it's the one he started titled "What a disaster evac training? Come to NYC!"

The last two posts were talking about unions... perhaps there were other posts that have since been deleted? Usually when they are deleted here, it says "*DELETED* by Admin".

Edited to remove stuff that was not related directly and was possibly confusing the purpose of this post.... --ki4buc

The telling point here is that the thread was hijacked, and taken well off topic. We all need to think before we post, and if our personal opinions are going to interfere with an otherwise valuable discussion, start a new thread, here in the Campfire.

Matt, the thread was locked by Doug. I should have reviewed it, but like everyone else I'm trying to keep up with Christmas, Channukah, Kwanza and I have a terrific headache from drinking single malt with my oaktree in honour of the solstice. It wasn't the liquor, but falling asleep with my cat's favourite toy lodged under my spine <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Why not post again about the real life ramifications of the strike. Remember not all emergencies are caused by nature and we can still learn.

I locked the thread when it devolved into a non-survival related political argument. I was made aware of this by emails from other members of the forum. Our rules are clear and for the benefit of all. Stay way from political content and keep discussions civil and on topic. The thread started out fine and you made a great point. If the thread had stayed focused on the survival related issues, nothing would have been done. Survival is good; anti- and pro-union content is not. Thanks for your understanding.

I personally apoligize to the group for responding to a posting that was clearly political in nature. I did it in a respectful manner but clearly I was off base.
I value this forum too much to create problems. Hopefully, I have learned not to respond to political posts in the future.
