Just started wondering about this. My daily EDC kit is a medium-size freezer Zip-loc bag with both PSK and FAK items. I am starting to think that it might be more efficient to keep first-aid items in a kit, and personal survival items in another kit. This way, since first aid items end up being used more often, they would be accessible without turning the PSK kit upside down. So, my guess is... two Zip-locs, one for first aid and one for survival.

How do you do it?

i stopped carring my PSK, because i use al lot of it quite often. SO i stuffed most of those things in my pockets as EDC items. It also spreads the weight beter and is more comfortabel to carry. My FAK is still in one piece, it has purification tabs and a ziploc bag for waterpurfication. The FAK is light enough, so it isn't to much hassle to wear.

I don't really know how to answer this question - seriously! I happen to be at my desk at work - in my pocket is my "Micro" kit - which has and assortment of small first aid stuff (4" gauze pads and down - includes antibiotic) - my edc big bag (on the chair next to the door) has a bigger first aide kit (trauma bandages and down - also includes emt shears, betadine, etc etc that won't FIT in the pockets) - sitting on the credenza next to me is a company supplied "first aid" kit that my boss was going to toss out because the drugs went out of date (I replaced the drugs, checked stock on the other stuff, and leave it out for others to see), and then my personal "stash" is kept in my desk draw

So, is my first aid kit in my EDC bag? Yeah - but it's also in a seperate bag. Am I paranoid about first aid? Yeah, I guess, but I've been that way ever since the day, as a young teen, when I was first on scene at a NASTY car accident, and wished I had a heck of a lot more first aid stuff than I did (and yes, I had taken my Boy scout First Aid merit badge at that point, and ay least had a clue)

My "everyday carry" PSK has both. I also have two separate FAK's, one which goes on my belt with other gear and one which attaches to my backpack. The two larger ones are pretty much duplicates.

I know it's almost heresy but I carry hardly any first aid items, particularly when I'm not out in the wilds. I'm just never far enough away from either my home, my vehicle(s), or my work to worry about it, as all three places have well stocked FAK's.

I only use FAK now. I used to carry PSK with FAK stuff mixed in it but bandaids and tylenol were used much more often than fishhooks. Now in the mail I have Doug's PSK and I will try to combine everything together into one carry but as two modules.

Yup, I've whittled my first aid supplies to a few oral meds, some bandaids, an AR shield, and a couple topicals. Beyond that, and it is field expedient time.

Two seperate pouches. A Ritter PSK and a modified Brave Soldier First Aid Kit. Both are lightweight and relatively small.

In my camelbak which I use for hiking I carry a good overstocked psk and a small fak that has a few oral meds and enough items to handle deep cuts or gashes that may happen during a fall.
my shelter in place and vehicle emergency kit fak's are more substantial

i use dougs kit along with adv. med. kits .5. Dougs kit fits nicely into the .5 bag. i've added a few items to each and can still fit them together in the bag. this is perfect for me because i dont have to tear my psk apart to get first aid items.
