Witht the first of the year coming up, I'm wondering when everybody rotates out stored food/ water/ meds/ batteries, etc. Do you have a set date or just do it "whenever?"

I rotate food on a continual basis, except for stored water, which I change twice a year, as it's stored in a dark, insulated area.

It's just like accounting... FIFO, first in, first out. Keep a stockpile, and rotate the stock.

when i buy food and water i put them at the back my supply, when i use them i start at the front. Simple and it works very well for me.

I rotate my "hurricane supplies" out around the first of the year.

( My daughter looks forward to this because the sudden appearance of surplus Spagettios in the pantry).

I start shopping to replenish the hurricane box about the first of the year so when the season starts, I'm ready and the cost is spread out over time.

Around summer solstice. No real reason why, just convenient for me.

I try in the week between christmas and new year because its the only week in the year that I might have time to devote to the task.

I restock the supplies in my truck kit on my birthday every year, this is also the day replace the ammunition in my personal defense handguns.

My search kit, which doubles as a bailout kit, is checked and restocked (as needed) on October 1st and again on July 1st.

My water stores in my truck are rotated every month on the first day I work.

We store what we eat & eat what we store so we're on a first in - first out system for food storage. For other things it's kind of "when we think about it". I found iodine water treatment tabs in my ruck last year with a 1973 date on them & coffee bags from a 1982 backpacking trip. Evidently I hadn't had a coffee "jones' or needed to purify water while using that ruck for a LONG time.

We review, update, and replace (or at least make a list) on New Years Eve. We never go out that night anyway.
