I'm looking for the modern equivalent of the 1970's era Army/Marines canvas buttpack. I used one for years in the Forest Service and BLM fighting fires. It had a really comfortable shoulder harness and you could hang all kinds of stuff from the belt, including canvas canteen holders. I'm not that crazy about hydration packs that have a water bladder and drinking tube. My problem with current buttpacks is you have to cinch the belt too tight if you have any weight on-board. Any suggestion?
Maxpedition, Spec-ops, Paraclete, Tactical tailor would be places to look. Cheaper than Dirt has some less expensive copies. Brigade Quartermaster would be another place to look.
