Southern California Edison planned a power outage in my apartment complex on Monday from 9-3.<br><br>I live in the complexes, and as power was going to be out, the garage door was left open. I don't know if it can be opened manually, but if the power went out, the door could not be opened, that would, well, it would suck. I'm sure it could be forced open some way or other.<br><br>Clocks and refrigerator went out. My stoves are electric, so no cooking. I finally got the Sterno cans, but my stove was still in the mail, which I, ironically, got in the mail, at 3, when the power was scheduled to come back on. Gotta test the stove and cans, not that I doubt they'll work, but to see what else I'll need.<br><br>Ate leftovers in the fridge, as that's what would spoil first.<br><br>Got bored (no computer, no work, no internet) so cleaned all my guns. In the dark. This was with running errands all morning. It wasn't that boring, it was nice and quiet, and the simulated power outage was a good experience, it served as nice drill for me. Edited, Oh yeah, the power was supposed to be restored by 3, it didn't come on until about 5:40 PM.<br><br>We had water, but no hot water. Gotta stock up my civilian MREs (canned food) and play with the sterno stove.<br><br>Can I cook these cans of chili or soup on the stove, or should i empty it onto a pot?

Just be sure to open the can! Otherwise you will have a nasty "chilli bomb!"
