Bingo, there's the big difference.
You can get one of those Coughlan's 99 cent mylar sheets they call a blanket, which is marginally effective in mild temps with slight wind.
Or you can get a mylar bag for $3 to $7, which will keep you better protected from the elements, but will cause more condensation because it is sealed up quite a bit more.
Or you can get one of those space thermal blankets for $10 to $15, and wrap up in that, with the benefit of some insulation as well as impermeability.
Or you can get an emergency bivy bag like the Thermolite for $20 to $30, which will give you the highest degree of protection possible (in that category), with added durability, but no longer something you can stuff in a pocket and forget about. It is still small enough, though, that it can be included in a daypack or glove box without much compromise. The Land Shark version may actually be at the absolute top end for this category.
I would still prefer my ranger suit over anything else.
