"More than a week ago, Corsbie, 23, became separated from friends when a snowstorm hit as they were hiking in the Desolation Wilderness region west of Lake Tahoe, Calif.

What followed were two days of "madness," Corsbie said."

Gee, it only took him twenty three years to learn the hard way something he should've been taught at five.

While I abhor the notion of tagging everyone with a rrid, people like him continue to make a strong case for letting it happen. Imagine the money we would save in rescue if all we had to do to find someone was pulse an emg in an area and wait for the return.

Better still, subscribe to the Bill Engval method of tagging and issue signs based on reaction to obvious situations.

"Gee, it's clear and calm up in the mountains today, do you think I'll need to bring anything to keep me warm and dry in case it rains or snows?"

"Naw, it's only the fall. Why take anything you might not need? There's your sign."

Didn't or couldn't start a fire & seperated the group. Nice friend, "Oh he'll catch up". You'd think that any place named
Desolation Wilderness would give you a clue.

Scary. He must hail from the shallow end of the gene pool.

From the article:

"Not long into the hike, Corsbie stopped to readjust his pack and relieve himself while his companions forged ahead. "

Did he have anything in the pack? -- or was it just for show so he would look like 'one of the guys?' -- Jeesh! One would think he would at least have some appropriate clothing and survival gear, especially hiking in the mountains in Winter! Unbelievable.
