I've seen it before in this forum, but it's something that I'm thinking hard about at the moment: the best way to store good amounts of duct tape in your PSK.

I keep a little AAA maglite in my tin, and I've wrapped a reasonable length of tape round the hand-grip. It's easy to put it on, and easy to get it off. And it also makes the maglite a little bit easier to hold, and helps to prevent it rattling in the kit.

Any other good tips for storage?

(The great thing about these ideas, of course, is that you can use a large number of them simultaneously, thus dramatically increasing your supply of duct tape available when you need it!)

Duct tape " It has a light and a dark side and is the force that bonds the universe Luke Skywalker." I am experimenting with a cardboard holster for my PSK ( imagine packaging for a deck of cards) with Duct tape wrapped around it.

A couple of things that I have found are: A Duct Tape "flat pack" at Wal-Mart that has about a yard of tape that is on a flattened "roll"........it comes in the traditional silver, florescent orange, yellow, and pink. I have also found a two-pack of duct tape rolls that have about ten feet (I think that is what the package said) of tape that is rolled very tightly and ends up being about the size of a "C" battery. Not sure of the brand or anything...just picked them up at an outdoor store in a nearby town.

I always carry a roll of duct tape in my jeans rear pocket: I ftattened it removing the inside roll and then I've squeezed the duct roll.

It doesn't fit in my UPSK (I'm setting up an altoids tin as UPSK), but I carry a part of my personal daily gear in my pockets, so I don't bother for the duct.

I hpe this helps,
mac

Thanks for the replies!

I particularly like the idea of storing some tape flattened in the rear pocket. I almost never stuff anything in that pocket, so I'm gonna try this one.

Doug's kit has 16" of duct tape. He protects the adhesive side by covering it with the waxy paper that backs address labels. I have found the 8.5" x 11" backing sheets for Avery labels in the office to be easy to collect in the office. One sheet is all you need.

Another trick to have tape at hand is to wrap a length around a plastic water bottle if you carry one. Then you don't have to open your PSK if you need a small length for a non-emergency situation.
