Ever seen one.? Imagine a steel handled hatchet, very short handle. 3 cutting edges. the 2 smaller ones are used with the steel handle. The handle has a ferrule with a coarse 1" OD thread. Twist a green stick into this ferrule, use the large cutting edge. End of steel handle is a hammer head. Used with the chisel blade of the SOG Multitool, it can do several useful things (like free up a chained bolt, or remove a hasp from a door.

they were first made by the defunct Charter Arms Co. Another cheap version is the combination tool used to build and open wooden packing crates often sold in surplus and tool stores.

this may be as close as you can get to that product now

the Jensen Unique Survival Tool

http://www.jenseneliteblades.com/just.htm

I think it was discussed on this forum previously as a tool that would fit in a British survival tin

I use to have one where it got to I have no idea.

Here are some pictures of one.
Skatchet pictiures

To bad they are not very good butr the best I could find. Unfortunately taking pictures of a blak tool on a black background doesn't make for good viewing.

Yep.., I still have mine. From back in the 1970's. Mine has some rust on it, though.

I didn't use it much. It kind of odd, and somewhat heavy..., not very useful for cutting up a squirrel, or much other "knife" things..., and a real hatchet is better to use for cutting up wood. In otherwords, I used my knives and axes way more than my Skatchet <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The skatchet was actually counterfeited down to the label and commanded good prices among collectors. I vaguely recall they were identified by gross casting seams and very poor metallurgy.
