Greetings,

I have been trying to determine the procedures for adding an avatar to my profile (a small image that is inserted below your name and title in the left margin of posts).

I don't find any information on avatars, but did locate some info in the FAQ on adding pics to the "Signature box". I had always assumed the signature was the info that is displayed immediately below all posts. Are these the same? Or are there other procedures for adding an avatar?

Click on "My Home", then "Personal Information". You can add a link to a small image file (80 x 80 max) to use as your avatar. You'd have to host such an image somewhere on the 'net, as there's no way to upload an image to ETS to use as an avatar.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It is labeled "URL to your picture". Looks like I need to find a site that will host the pic. Anyone have any input here?

I think Groo made an offer to host pics a while back. Or something like that. I could be wrong though.
Try sending him a PM and ask.

www. photobucket.com has been mentioned i believe.
Its something i'am looking at also .

Just remembered <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />, martinfocazio did a very good post on this about a month ago. A search should turn it up

Mike, I recall his post, but it seemed to be directed to adding pictures to the body of a post. (Including off-site hosting). This is not what I was trying to do.

I am a member of a few different forums where the avatar is hosted on the on the forum server itself. They also have a specific location in the "user profile" for downloading the avatar to the server. That's it, all done.

It appears here at ETS they do not host avatars. There was also a terminology confusion with me searching for "avatar" instructions and ETS calling it "your picture" (which I had assumed meant a pidture you wanted embedded in a post).

I am all clear now and will look into the web hosting sites suggested.
