I just got an email from LAPoliceGear.com with sale pricing on UnderArmour. I'm curious about the Cold Gear. The stuff still seems pricey, as compared to say the LLBean River Driver shirt. I know it's much lighter, and supposed newer/better technology, but I have a hard time with the price. I am a big proponent of "you get what you pay for", but... Any comments from those who have tried UnderArmour?

I just purchased the UnderArmour Knit Beanie cap for this winter -- it seemed a little pricey at $21, but thought I would try it out. Most of UnderArmour clothing won't fit me since a lot of it is form-fitting and my form just isn't made for form-fitting clothing without going into further detail.

Yeah it's worth it - if you are going to use it the way it was intended. If you just want long underwear, buy long underwear.

I can't get the UnderArmour in size 46 dumpy, but I CAN get big skivvies.

I was lucky, I was at an Under Amour outlet store and they had XXL loose gear ss shirts for $10 in brown . They fit nice and loose, so you may want to look at this style of cut. I also purchased a regular UA XXL shirt in blue, but it is way too tight , so the kids got that one.

I'll expand on this when I have a few more minutes, but IMO Under Armour is worth it's cost 100% for the applications it is designed for.

Walmart carries a brand (athletic works I believe) that does the same thing and is less expensive. Apparently, quality is similar to underarmor- many good reviews over at glocktalk (from police officers, military, etc) if you want to do a search.

Most of the summer I wore underarmor tees and underarmor boxerbriefs in Baghdad. They were the best by far. I got some of the Wal mart gear and it is not as effective, though it is suitable.

The cold weather underarmor gear works equally as well. I don't mind paying for what I know works. Whether it's 140 or 14 degrees, underarmor does what it claims to do, and there is simply nothing else like it on the market right now.

Understood, it's not the same quality as underarmor, but most of the people I've talked to say they couldn't tell much difference in function, and only a slight durability difference. I've got two of the knockoffs and concur.

I was just pointing out that there are other options if cost is a concern

Still, underarmor does offer a greater variety of products, so for some of the things there isn't an alternative.
