looks like a very handy bit of kit. if the quality is sound ( and it should be as its Walther ) it would make a solid addition to a BOB and car kit. Nice find

Walther needs a new advertising firm. What jungle the bulldozers haven't developed is usually entered with a machete. This mania for sticking things in hollow handles 'because they're there' is fine if the contents are useable. Usually the offerings fall short in content and quality. But like two otherwise bread and butter cars a big spoiler, trunk wing and custom rims evokes images of Ferrari beating performance. As you said, Walther has a reputation for quality. You probably can't go wrong at this price. Then again, the german army entrenching tool ( army jargon for shovel) that accompanied the Walther P 38 is often available very cheap also.

and for that matter, Walther just may be licensing its name for use like Smith & Wesson does, and the product bearing that name might not be the same quality the original company is known for. Guess it's one of those 'buyer beware' things

i agree buyer beware....just because it has the" WALTHER" banner on it does not ensure great german quality....i belive the tool is made in taiwan.....i never (i try never ) to buy items of kit ,even small kit items made in the FAR EAST as i have had equipment failure in the past with these items...always buy quaility items kit even the small stuff....vince g. 11b inf...

I'm not impressed with the Walther Jungle Survival Tool but the Columbia River Side Hawg at the bottom of the page looks very interesting!

Oh, very cool. May be giving those to someone not at all resembling myself for the Solstice, or maybe Newtonmas. :P

Your being cheated. Look at all that steel they stole to make more knives.

I suppose it is fine as a compromise for having the right thing. As long as you keep that in mind, you can be satisfied with it, although the price to me seems a little high.

I'd rather pack a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp or Battle Rat, a separate spade tool, and a real survival kit. They are more useful, the kit can be customized, and if you lose one, you don't lose all.

It might not be a bad idea to have a redundant stowage, only there's just so much I am willing to pack around.

I ADREE !
The first multitool I purchased was "Remington" brand named on the scales. When I went to use it, I found it was a piece of junk: blades loose, jaws soft and misaligned, on & on...
Remington should have been ashamed to put their name on it.
(And I should be ashamed to fail to check it over before purchase.)
Come to think of it, I bought some Remington 20 gauge shot shells a few years back and half of them failed to fire in my Savage 24. Never again.
