Thanks to a post from ironraven, I started researching Spec Ops gear. Soon I will be getting several pieces of Spec Ops gear. I like the idea of the Pack Rat (thanks ironraven!) because I EDC a small bag anyway. I plan on bulking the bag up with ED items as well as emergency gear. I plan to use a couple of the smaller Spec Ops bags for my PDA and some redundant items and a Spec Ops cargo pocket organizer for PSK and more redundant items. I am hoping that this method will keep my gear organized and easier to grab and go. It is also my hope that with having so much redundancy that some of the bags will be able to stand alone, at least a little should I get seperated from other parts of the kit. I was inspired by Schwert's concentric ring approach.

This is theory at this point, as I don't have a lot of the gear in my possession yet, but I am expecting it to work for me.

Keep in the Pack-Rat's size in mind if you planning on putting it other bags- it is the size of two, one liter Nalgene bottles. A lot of bags can't support it.

The CMG Infinity Ultra is a wonderful flashlight. When County Comm sold them I bought one for each member of my family (6). It is bright enough for tasks in your house or camp. You can clip it to the brim of a cap and use it as a headlamp. You get about 25 hours of bright light from one AA. The new Gerber version might still be good. I don't know I do not own one.

I keep on in my pants pocket 24/7. My 11 year old twin sons have theirs on orange parachute cord that they wear around their necks.
