[color:"green"]How do you carry your PSK?
What ingenuitive(sp) ways have y'all come up with to carry your PSK's?

I've found that the altoids gum sized tins take up the same space as 2 loops on a 12ga shell holder. So I'm working on a PSK that is modular with different stuff in each tin.

Anybody else done anything different than a tin in your cargo pocket?

So far, that's it. My smallest kit is a stainless steel pill carrier on a paracord fob. Next is the tin (I'm using a Whitman's Sampler tin I got at Wal Mart with 4 pretty bad pieces of candy in it) in the cargo pocket. Then there's the butt pack, the hip pack with the belt and shoulder strap, the "kangaroo" pack that straps onto my ALICE pack, and the ALICE pack itself.

I'm thinking about a suspenders/belt pack and a vest.

Um.... maybe I'm getting carried away with this stuff ... <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

If youa re going to use a shotshell holder, cut down paintball tubes. They fit perfectly, pack flat, and being clear, you can see what is in them with ease.

I have 2 nylon "combat" butt packs for large PSK and FAK that I carry on a pistol belt and Alice suspenders for long term carry.
I also have a smaller one in an ammunition pouch as well as the one in an altoids tin and one I got in hunter safety in a 35MM film case.

[color:"green"] I'm trying for a modular approach. I'm just getting into this and making my first PSK. My goal is to have a tin for fire, general, first-aid and general. There will be some redundancy in each kit along with my EDC. A 6 shell holder will hold 3 tins perfectly when the center stiching is taken out of every set of 2. and is only 4" x 7" overall. This is all still up in the air but seems to be the best route at the time.

Gp_frk,

I am not impressed by any of the mini PSKs. Why have a big lump in one pocket? Why put all your “eggs” in one basket? I have PSK items in my pockets; but not in a container. In my wallet I have an REI featherlight mirror, a Fresnel lens, three pieces of Rite-in-the-Rain paper, a list of phone numbers with calling card numbers, and two Band-Aids. In my left front pocket I have a ferro rod, two cotton ball tinder, a Fox 40 whistle, a Bic mini lighter, and a Fisher Space Pen. In my right pocket I have a CMG Infinity Ultra LED flashlight and a Suunto Comet compass on a 5” cord. I have a Leatherman Charge Ti clipped in my front pocket and a SureFire C2 clipped in my belt.

Dump the containers and put stuff in your pockets were you will have them when you really need them.

Carry of full size PSK when you are off pavement plus your pocket mini items. If you lose your pack you are still good.

[color:"green"] Craig this is more of an excercise to get me going than anything. Plus I love tinkering with stuff and seeing what I can come up with out of the norm. I hope to have some pics up soon. Thanks for the reply.

BTW could your sig line be interpreted as "chill out, have a drink and try no to slur when speaking" ? <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I have to go with Craig and PC2K on this one, even my tin got to be too bulky and I find myself leaving it at home which defeats the purpose. I have most of my stuff on the keychain and in various pockets now. At least I have the majority of the items with me at all times now. And with winter approaching, have nice cargo pockets on the jackets and heavy coats. I don't really like micro-size stuff anyway, I have big hands and fat fingers. I need stuff I can get a grip on and see as well.
