Question, a whistle is seen universally on kit lists for signal purposes. If you can whistle loud enough to make your ears ring with your fingers, do you need to carry a whistle?

I can whistle that way. For me, anyway, it takes a lot more effort for given amount of noise. The whistle is way more efficient.

Rapidly tap your little finger on your thumb. If you don't have the manual dexterity to do it, you're succumbing to hypothermia. Now try putting your fingers together to whistle. Same problem.
