At not quite 20 hours, there has been no significant leakage of a waterfilled and capped paintball tube. to be 100%, it would be a matter of a quick wrap with electricans tape.
For the same length of time, I have a had a dab of vaseline on another one, and it shows no signs of degradation.
One can fit a layer of five, quarter inch bits into one of these, so a tube trimmed to 4" inches will hold 20, which should be anough for any emergency mantience we would have to do. They are also the perfect size for carrying CR123sThe lack of threading on the caps means they aren't as secure as I would want, but they can be removed one handed, unlike a threated container. A tube trimmed to three inches will hold 15 full sized matches, three relighting birthday candles, and 3 cotten balls; if you wanted a smaller package, you could use penny matches and get about 20 of them in along with the 3 candles after trimming.
I know, I'm babbling. But these things are dirt cheap and versitle.
