Hi everyone,

I'm putting a trangia mess tin survival kit together in the style of Frenchy's PSK and John "Lofty" Wiseman's with an Esbit stove and all.

So I'm wondering what would be a perfect waistpack that will fit the Trangia mess tin with handle: 6.5" x 3.6" x 2.6". I'm browsing the Maxpedition waistpacks and wondering which style would be better with some more spare room available.

Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

...I like a camelbak type, because of the water carrying, or even a small backpack for the extra roomto stuff in a jacket.

My main kit is based on the small Trangia mess tin and Maxpedition H1, it is a very tight fit but works well for me. The only spare room available is the knife pouch though.

Thanks for the reply. BTW I found a thread about the Proteus Versipack here :

Right now I'm looking at the M-4 waistpack on the website for a smaller pack. I'll ask the question on the extremeoutdoorgear forum.

My Trangia small tin fits in my Mountainsmith Kinetic waistpack.

How about a list/photo of what is in your tin?

Yes I might do that but I've got some key items to mail order and it takes time to collect all the stuff and think it over. For exemple I'm going to order two Esbit stoves from Sirmailorder : one to get familiar with and practice and see for myself it it really works and one to save for emergencies. I want to put a shirt pocket RITR notebook but I only found the hip pocket at MEC but there's a store where they sell it in Montréal and I have to call them, etc. I want to put a DOAN magnesium bar. I have the Coghlan to practice and get familiar with but I want the best to put in the tin. I also have to order the famous Storm matches NATO approved from survivalpro (in Canada), etc. etc. As for the fanny pack I may go out and try to fit it in the stores. Maybe a TheNorthFace would be a good idea but the Maxpedition packs have a good reputation. It looks like an ongoing process and adding procrastination and cheapskate habits to it takes even more time to put the definitive kit together...
