Anyone else want to play?

I know the "Altoid Tin" game has been played...let's take it down a level in size.

4 Sheets of Toilet Paper (tinder)
1 Utility Knife Blade
1 .22LR Empty Casing (Whistle)
2' Duct Tape Wrapped Around Box

Film Canister PSK

2 X-Acto Knife Blades (#24)
2' Duct tape (Wrapped Around Can)

I have a nato lifeboat match container that i managed to cram with
1 button compass
8 lifeboat matches
2 safty pins
2 puritbs
12 foot of nylon cord ( from a venition blind)
small fishing kit consisting of 15feet 10lb test 7 small hooks and 3 lead shot
1 novalty candle (blow it out it relights)
1 2"needlle
10 foot roll of thin copper wire
the original cottonwool plug still fits in the cap and lastly 20' of that nylon "blind" cord wrapped around the container.
Now i have to re-pack it

How about a bison capsule with:

Mini ferro rod
Fishing bobber light
Exacto blade
Tinder Quik tab
Safety pin
Some dental floss
Sewing needle
Wrap the outside with duct tape?

I'll have to try this when I get home. Thanks, Martin. This will take my mind off of last night's Yankee game.

Years before I ever discovered ETS, I had a small zippered pouch that had been part of a key chain. In it I had a small compass, small 2'' blade knife and mini bic. It was always in the pocket when I was in the woods.

I noticed you include:

"12 foot of nylon cord ( from a venition blind)"

My wife had me working on taking down blinds one day and I noticed how stout that cord is on good blinds. I stripped all of it off and have used it, also.

Good thing to add to the list of Free and Cheap stuff to scrounge.

Cool idea. I have a Chris Reeve "Sable". At the moment, there's a spark lite, some tinder and some cash stuffed in the hollow handle. And it's not a "silly" psk... it's an iPSK Nano, thankyouverymuch.

Silly or dangerous? We call it a button compass because the RAF camouflaged the things in uniform buttons. Now I've been through some silly metal detector adventures, but even the TSA doesn't hire retired luftwaffe guards- yet. PSKs are usefull because in extreme conditons you may very well have little else. A securely pocketed Altoids tin is one thing. Anything less is getting Mac Gyver cute. Unless your running around Burning Man in body paint and secrete gear in that fake molar even the word MINIMAL should be readable without a fresnel lens.

My tiniest PSK is included in my EDC and I keep it between my ears.

The best item you can have is PMA.

Positive Mental Attitude. Read "Deep Survival."

I'm trying to remember the phrase that Cody Lundin uses? It's along the same lines.
