I've had a Gerber Back Paxe for about six years. I like it: it's relatively light thanks to the hollow fiberglass handle; the edge holds up well during routine use; the nylon sheath is heavy-duty and well-made. Added bonus: depending on the nature of my outing, I sometimes carry a few essentials in the hollow handle ( ~6-cu. in.). Handle-end has pre-drilled holes for lanyard.

Downside: one of its benefits (short handle) also means you don't get much leverage when using it, so if you're undertaking an ambitious bit of chopping, your arm/wrist will get fatigued faster.

I also have an older Gerber folding saw (not the Exchange-a-Blade model). Folded: 6.5-in. Blade: 5.25-in. Small, light, effective.
