Hello fellow gear freaks,

What I consider my most important part of my body are my eyes yet I never wore any UV sunglasses. But I want to remedy that among other things by getting the ultimate ballistic glasses/goggles interchangeable biker/soldiers goggles. I know for urban survival swim goggles to seal from dust and smoke (which seal best in a wet environment BTW) and N95 dust masks are recommended but I was wondering if I could get goggles that would look like sunglasses and I could get away with not looking too weird. What do you think?

Frankie

I think they're great and I've been thinking of getting a pair. But Wiley sells detachable ear-pieces for them, so you can wear them like regular glasses. You'd have to be very cool indeed to wear them as goggles in the city... <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

One thing to keep in mind -- polarizing lens reduce glare and make ice invisible. This is very bad when you're driving, particularly given where you live, so pick your lens carefully.

Yep, I've been wearing a pair here for a while now. They do a pretty good job, but they are expensive.

The one drawback about them is they fit so snug into my eye sockets that I end up with sweat in my eyes on hot days.

They are the most popular sunglasses here in Iraq by far.

Yes, polarizing lens is a feature I don't need and want to pay for. I've heard it's meant for water sports.

Although I can't wear them myself due to prescription limitations, I've heard nothing but stellar reviews on all of the motorcycle forums.

I got a pair on ebay for about 90 bucks. Included 4 pairs on lenses and some overdesigned case. They are a little big, but they offer excellent protection. At first I thought they were a little flimsy, but I'vd come to realize that is really a durability feature. The goggles do seal quite well, not as good as swim goggles but definately enought to keep out dust and sand. They fit perfectly in the zippered side pocket of my Fatboy including the extra temple pieces.
