After someone mentioned in earlier post (you perhaps?), looked for info other than just anecdotal. Found this study reported in the Journal of International Medical Research. It's lengthy, and it's technical (read: over my head ), but my original source site to the document summarized with this: "...a group of people all suffering from the flu...gave each experimental subject one tablespoon of Sambucol (an elderberry extract developed by a Dr Mumcuoglu) four times a day for five days, while giving the control group a placebo (four times a day for five days). At the end of the study, those getting the Sambucol recovered from their flu in 3.1 days (average) while the control group averaged 7.1 days for their recovery...there have been no studies on the preventive use of Sambucol, but many people do swear by it and take it regularly during the cold and flu season." As they say, YMMV.

"Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries."
(Well, somebody had to say it... )

I am not a looney! Why should I be attired with the epithet looney merely because I have a pet halibut? I've heard tell that Sir Gerald Nabardo has a pet prawn called Simon (you wouldn't call him a looney); furthermore, Dawn Pailthorpe, the lady show-jumper, had a clam, called Stafford, after the late Chancellor, Allan Bullock has two pikes, both called Chris, and Marcel Proust had an haddock! So, if you're calling the author of 'A la recherche du temps perdu' a looney, I shall have to ask you to step outside!
(Yes, it's out of order, but you don't want to hear me sing. Honest.)

It's not nice for us to take over a serious thread, so I'm afraid that I will have to turn you into a newt.
Pffft, you're a newt!

It's tempting to keep going just to see how far we'd get before Chris steps in.

This was all inevitable and we must be held blameless. Of all things, the thread mentioned elderberries. That's an invitation to mischief if I ever heard one.
