I partly agree with you, but sometimes there use should be warrented
For example I use the citronella type because I had 2 Rotwellers move in next door and my dog was barking at the fence being teritorial.
2 rotwellers pounding the fence tended to start the fence coming apart and these dogs were not the most friendly because the owner wanted them that way.
So the collar was used so my dog would not provoke the situation, especially when I wasn't there.
It was not use 24hours a day or to stop all barking. just to take the sting out of the situation untill the situation calmed down.
It worked.
As with everything it should be used with some sense.

If I had to use the electric shock collar to try and stop those 2 dogs from breaking it and fighting mine, I would.
Would I like doing it .... No Way
