In regards to an EDC knife being carried with a pocket clip, I am looking for ideas to protect said knife from pocket lint. Anyone have ideas to keep the lint out of the knife?

Remember, for pocket carry, not belt carry <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I just deal. My pockets aren't that bad, and the knife is easy to clean. Once a month or so, I take it apart, clean it up, lube it, etc. Probably don't even need to do it that often, but it's an excuse to play with it, so...

It’s real easy to take care of!! As you get dressed in the morning turn your pockets inside out after you have put your pants on and clean the lint out of the pockets. After you have all your pants clean it’s very easy to check them as you put them on. Then every month or so check your EDC stuff and blow out any lint that escaped your attention before.

Ors,

I have carried a knife clipped in my pocket for about 20 years. I have never had a problem with pocket lint in my knife. How does it jump up from the bottom of your pocket to get in your knife? Maybe you have too much oil on it.

Your pockets must be bigger than mine... no way I can fit a can of compressed air in there.

Well becasue of the lint one time on the job sebenza didn't lock up and when I dug in it folded on me. Thank god I was wearing thick leather gloves otherwise I would have been hurting. It is a problem but with regular looking after it really doesnt matter.

I find that amazing -- I can't imagine my Sebenza failing to lock because of lint. One of the reasons I got the thing was I was concerned about Benchmades failing to lock due to debris because their tolerances are so close. (After I got it, I had to reprofile the edge, but there you go.)

On the other hand, I have had Buck patterns fail to lock due to blood & such in the back of the blade. There is no foolproof folder. Try a Falkniven WM.

Lint collected on the blade stopper which prevented the blade from fully opening and deploying the frame lock. I know it's weird but it left a bad taste.
