I was at Sportsman’s Warehouse and saw a DVD called Survival Basics I & II for about $12.00. I figured it might have some new ideas I have not seen before. I took it home and put it in the DVD player.

To my utter amazement it turned out to be Hoods Woods Survival Basics Volume 1 & 2. There is absolutely nothing on the front or back of the DVD to indicate it is from Hoods Woods. It says Stoney-Wolf Productions, Inc.

It is a great video! He covers: fire, shelter, water, PSK, navigation, knives, trapping, and snares. He seems to like big knives. He could use a saw from a SAK or Leatherman for the tasks where he uses a big knife for chopping. The knife is more dramatic, if less precise. If you have a Sportsman’s Warehouse I recommend you pick one up.
