It is a 2004 closeout, but still valid. I ordered 4 compasses ($4.93 each) and had them delivered to a local REI store (free shipping). I just received an e-mail that they are in.

I did the same about a month ago. I'm happy to report they were all in new condition, blister packed, and without a thing wrong with 'em.

For $4 you can't beat the price. FYI - I picked up on another forum that you can pop the rotating bezel off and the compass pops out. Perfect size for a mini-PSK!
