Thanks to the tips I got from several members in a previous post, I finally got around to re-waxing a Filson coat. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

I did, however, closely read the label on the can of Filson wax, and noticed that it's paraffin-based. After I was finished, I put some on a 100% cotton diaper. Held to a flame, it burned slowly. Probably slower than a synthetic.

Anyone have experience with waxed cotton as regards flammability?

When I evacuated horses during our fires an old Drizabone and later Filson riding coat served as spark protection. Anything will burn given enough contact with flame. The waxed cotten is more like an oversaturated cotton and vaseline tinder. Try lighting off another swatch with a metal match.
